Mole Removal in Perris: What You Should Know
While moles skin tags are often undesired skin lesions that can be the cause of frustration for some, they are still a very common problem. Most people will develop 10-40 moles on their body over the course of their lives, and some of them will be particularly frustrating. These moles could be in an embarrassing area on the nose or face, or they could be in an uncomfortable place like the eyelid or groin, where skin tends to rub together. Most of these moles are benign, though. What’s worse is when moles are suspected of containing cancerous cells. Particularly suspicious moles are moles that are black, large, misshapen, or somehow changing and growing over time. These moles should be examined by a dermatologist as soon as possible to check for skin cancer. The dermatologist would likely take a biopsy, and hopefully after that, we can remove any mole cells that remain, be they cancerous or not.
Aftercare for Mole Removal in Perris:
Many people seek to have their moles removed, but once their moles are removed, they don’t know how best to take care of their treatment area where the mole used to be to minimize scarring and allow for the wound to most properly heal. There are a couple of important things that we want all of our patients to know. First, it’s very important that the treatment area does not get too wet in the first few days after the mole removal treatment. It’s also important that the treatment area is not exposed to excess sunlight directly after receiving mole removal. Either of these could impact the treatment area’s ability to heal, and may increase scarring in the long run.
It may be particularly difficult to avoid getting your treatment area wet shortly after receiving mole removal treatment. Everyone needs to bathe, and what happens if it rains? Fortunately, with a bit of thinking ahead, there are plenty of solutions. If your treatment area is in places that are relatively easy to avoid in the shower, like the forearm, you should be able to simply keep your arm out of the water for a couple of days when you shower. If not, though, not to worry! You can always use a sponge bath for the few days immediately following your procedure and then go back to bathing as usual.
Sunlight can be a bit easier to avoid for your moles, but it’s still good to have a plan. If it’s not too hot out, you can pretty easily put on a long-sleeved shirt or jeans, assuming your treatment area isn’t in a location on your body that isn’t already naturally covered by your clothes. If that really isn’t feasible, you can pretty easily put a bandage over the treatment area and cover it up that way.
