What to Expect Before Your Mole Removal Treatments
Before the procedure, our patients will meet with the mole removal surgeon who performs the procedure for an initial medical consultation. This consultation will last approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on your specific case and the questions that you ask. During this consultation, the doctor will examine your moles or skin tags and complete a comprehensive evaluation of your overall health as well. We want to make sure you are healthy and ready for our procedure because your health & wellness is very important to our team! An important aspect of this evaluation is checking your moles for any cancerous signs. If there is any suspicion that a mole may be cancerous or malignant, then the doctor will immediately give you a referral to a dermatologist for a biopsy. While skin cancer cases at our clinic are rare, we take all possible cases very seriously! Upon all these findings, the doctor will then create a specialized treatment plan. The doctor will also address any concerns or questions you may have during this consultation so patients should not feel shy to ask any and all their questions. Pricing will be determined by the patient coordinator who will put together package pricing depending on the size, location and type of moles.
What to Expect During Your Mole Removal Treatment
The treatment begins with our medical team taking you to one of our state-of-the-art procedure rooms equipped with top of the line medical machinery, supplies and other safety equipment. Our medical assistants will make sure that you are comfortable and ready to start the procedure, and ensure this by taking your vital signs. After, pre-op photos may be taken for your patient chart. Then, the procedure will begin with the doctor numbing the area that is going to be treated with a local anesthetic. This is very similar to the numbing solution that you may receive at a dentist or orthodontists office. You may feel an initial, mosquito-like prick when you are being numbed, but after this, you should not feel any more pain! You will feel comfortable throughout the procedure! After waiting an allotted time for your skin lesion to become numb, the surgeon will start removing the mole or skin tag with a laser or radiofrequency. Our surgeons will use precision and skill to make sure your mole is removed with beautiful and permanent results. Afterwards, the surgeon will provide you with after care instructions, creams and healing ointments based on your customized treatment plan!
What to Expect After Your Mole Removal Treatment
Since the treatments we offer are minimally invasive, there is no downtime needed for our mole and skin tag removal procedures. Minimally invasive techniques means that our surgeon uses various methods to operate with less damage to your body than with open surgery! This is the gold standard in cosmetic surgery and it’s great for patients, because you can go back to your normal everyday activities right after! (there are some restrictions based on each individual case, please consult your physician) We advise our patients to keep the area treated dry, clean and out of direct sunlight for approximately ten days after the treatment. There may be some restrictions such as no swimming in pools or ocean water for up to ten days also, but all other forms of activity are okay! We also provide patients with the option to use a scar gel skin care product that helps speed up the healing process and helps eliminate any type of scarring.
